Forskningsnettet

A gatekeeper is a server, where videoconference units and meeting rooms are registered via a unique number/ID, that can be used for direct calls to meeting rooms and meeting attendees. The number resembles a telephone number: i.e. 0045 3544 4444, and every video conferencing unit and meeting room ideally have such a number. Forskningsnettet is running such a gatekeeper service, which can be used by all video conference users at an institution under Forskningsnettet.

Your equipment may already be registered on the gatekeeper at Forskningsnettet by the administrator at your institution. If that is not the case, you can follow the below procedure.

Create an unique ID
Before you register your video conference units with the gatekeeper at Forskningsnettet, you need to create an unique number/ID. To avoid conflicting numbers, you need to follow the below number chart for institutions under Forskningsnettet. The number chart is based on the normal telephone numbering system: 

Add the last figures from your own telephone number, or from an unique telephone number at a videoconference room, to the main number for the institution in the above chart. That should give you an unique number with 12 characters (i.e. 0045 3544 4444), that you can register under the gatekeeper configuration on your videoconference unit. Configuration of your equipment

You need to configure your equipment with the following information:

Unique number/H.323 ID: i.e. 0045 3544 4444 (as described above)
IP-address of the gatekeeper at Forskningsnettet: 130.226.1.183

Test to see if it works

You can call the test meeting room directly on this number: 0045130 60001, to see if the gatekeeper registration works. If you experience any problems, you can test your own network, and the MCU at Forskningsnettet, by calling IP number of the MCU: 130.226.1.30, and next type the meeting number: 60001, followed by #-sign.
