The Danish Agency for Science, technology and innovation has appointed a new management committee to the Danish Research Network.
The Research Network is responsible for delivering high bandwidth Internet and related services to the Danish universities and research institutions.

The Chair of the management committee, dean Børge Obel, Aarhus School of Business, University of Aarhus has been re-appointed as chairman.

The merger between several Danish universities last year has changed the clientele and therefore a change in the composition of the management committee was natural.

The new management committee is now ready to take on the task of adjusting the strategy and services from Forskningsnettet to the new possibilities and opportunities the introduction of an own optical network in November and the university mergers in January 2007 has introduced.

The new management committee is the following persons:
• Centre Manager, Professor Jan Damsgaard, Centre for Applied ICT, Copenhagen Business School. Appointed after nomination from the Danish Research Coordination Committee
• Professor Lars Dittmann, DTU Fotonik, Technical University of Denmark . Appointed after nomination from Danish Universities
• Professor Jens Jørgen Gaardhøje, University of Copenhagen, Niels Bohr Institute. Appointed after nomination from the Danish Research Coordination Committee
• Dean Børge Obel, (chair), Aarhus School of Business, University of Aarhus. Appointed after nomination from Danish Universities
• Institute Manager Peder Thusgaard Ruhoff, Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, University of Southern Denmark. Appointed after nomination from Danish Universities

Yet another member is to be appointed after nomination from the Danish Research Coordination Committee.

”With the new management committee we have a broad and solid foundation for cooperation with the many different users of our network", says chair, dean Børge Obel, Aarhus School of Business, University of Aarhus "the persons who have been appointed represents the new composition of our user group and they all have knowledge of the possibilities and challenges the optical network will give in the future. We are now well equipped to be an active partner in the future activities of the universities and research institutions."

The new steering committee has been appointed for a period of 4 years. Besides the appointed members, representatives from the network secretariat, the network operation centre UNI•C and a representative from The Danish Agency for Science, technology and innovation also participates in the management committee meetings.
